Proportion MaDe EaSY

What is Proportion?
Proportion is an equation with a ratio on each side.
It is a statement that two ratios are equal.
Here is an example of what a Proportion looks like:
3:6=4:8
USE:
When one of the four numbers is in a proportion is unknown, we can use cross multiplication the
find the unkown number. This is commonly called solving the proportion.

Example:

1/2 = G/4
Solve for G.
To solve for G we use cross multiplication:

1 G
_ x _
2 4

Therefore,
=1x4= Gx2
=4 = 2G

Now we must get rid of the "2" beside the "G" so that there are no factors for "G".

So we divide both sides by "2" (the number "G" is multilplied by)
4 = 2G
__ __
2 2
=2=G

The answer is G=2
